ABOUT

At 'The Shul at Chabad,' prayer services are set in a traditional yet educational format, making the experience one of warmth and joy for both the experienced and non-experienced alike. Prayer services are open to all, regardless of educational background, commitment, affiliation, or level of Jewish observance. The services are user-friendly and are conducted in the traditional Hebrew, interspersed with English readings. There is a palpable warmth that melts away any embarrassment for those unfamiliar with Hebrew or new to communal prayer. This is the atmosphere that has been created in this unassuming building in Minneapolis, known as the Chabad House, which we call home.

No Membership Policy

Here at 'The Shul at Chabad,' we are open to all Jews from all walks of life – regardless of background, level of observance or affiliation. The Chabad credo centers on the concept of Ahavat Yisroel – the love and acceptance of a fellow Jew without judgment or preconditions. It is this spirit of unity and sense of belonging that permeates the atmosphere of all of our programs and activities. Our “no membership” policy applies to all of Chabad of Minneapolis’ services, classes and educational and social service programs. Our doors and our hearts are always open to you.

Birth

Bris/Jewish Naming: The Jewish name is a keystone of Jewish identity for all Jews. It is customary to give a Jewish name when the baby is born. Jewish boys are named during the ritual circumcision (brit milah), and Jewish girls are named at the first synagogue Torah reading following their birth. We can help you arrange the ceremony, and walk you through the all the details. The ceremony can be held in a home or at the synagogue.

For more info about a Bris click here.

Bar/Bat Mitzva

Our young teens prepare for this milestone through a combination of Hebrew classes, tutoring and consultation with the Rabbi. The ceremony can be held at Chabad or at a venue of your choice. We will meet with you to craft a ceremony that meets your needs. Click here for more information.

Weddings

In preparation for the joyous occasion, the bride and groom will meet with the rabbi to learn about the Jewish perspective of weddings and marriage. Rabbi Grossbaum can perform the ceremony, walking your guests through the rich meanings behind the rituals.

Bereavement

The Rabbi and staff are always here, especially in times of need. To offer comfort, guidance and bereavement support, assistance in preparation, officiating at the funeral, the Shiva service etc. Contact us here.

We can arrange for kaddish as well as minyan services for those who are observing a yartzeit.
Please email Rabbi Grossbaum at [email protected].
